This is a view of the bookcliffs mountains with the Price River in the foreground. The bookcliffs were named by John W. Gunnison who was an early US Army topographic engineer and explorer. He came through this area in 1853 following part of the Old Spanish Trail. He was mapping a railroad route to the west. The Price River comes out of Scofield Reservoir and empties into the Green River.

Price River and the bookcliffs
This is a view of the bookcliffs mountains with the Price River in the foreground. The bookcliffs were named by John W. Gunnison who was an early US Army topographic engineer and explorer.
